Historically, College Station has received around $1.5 million each year from federal sources dedicated specifically to enhancing the community. Eligible spending categories for these funds include vital areas such as housing, social services, and public facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to influence how these funds can best be used to benefit everyone in the city!

From now until **March 21st**, residents can fill out an online survey to provide their feedback and thoughts on what they believe are the most pressing needs in the community. The survey is available in both English and Spanish to ensure everyone can share their ideas. If you prefer to speak out in person, there will be a public hearing on **March 18th at 6 p.m.** This event will take place at the College Station City Hall, specifically in the Bush 4141 room.

City staff will carefully consider all the input provided from both the survey and the hearing while drafting recommendations for the new plan. These recommendations will be presented at another public hearing in July, where the City Council will make the final decisions based on feedback from the community.

Brazos County Issues Burn Ban

In other news, a burn ban has been instituted in Brazos County for the next 30 days due to heightened drought indices. This important safety measure can be lifted early if adequate rainfall occurs. The county officials unanimously voted for this ban following a report that highlighted concerning drought conditions in northern and eastern areas of Brazos County. Fortunately, there were no reported wildfires over the past week, which was likely due to the community’s dedication to avoiding outdoor burning.

Theft Charges for Local Sports Official

$15,000 from the organization. Collins had check-writing authority and supposedly made unauthorized payments to companies including U-Haul and Walmart. An audit revealed discrepancies, prompting the association to notify Bryan police. Collins is currently in jail, with a bond set at $30,000.

Stolen Corvette Mystery Unfolds

$101,000 Corvette. The dealership alerted authorities after discovering that the identity of an elderly man was used to apply for the loan. Simpson was apprehended at an apartment complex with the stolen vehicle and is facing multiple charges, including felony theft. His total bond amounts to a staggering $185,000.
