Passionate fans of various popular media will have a chance to come together and share their enthusiasm at this year’s College Station Comic Con. The convention will feature a host of activities from retro-gaming championships to cosplay contests, panel discussions and even appearances by celebrity guests. Set to take place on the 14th and 15th of September, this year will mark the return of the much-anticipated event for a second time at 5827 Leonard Road in Bryan, the Brazos County Expo.
Crypto fans attending the convention would get a chance to meet several renowned voice actors from various franchises. Kenny James, known for his voice role as Bowser in ‘Mario’, Andre Sogliuzzo, the voice behind King Bumi in ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, Austin St. John, who played the red Power Ranger in the ‘Power Rangers’ franchise and Katelynn Barr, the voice behind Himeno in ‘Chainsaw Man’, are all expected to grace the event.
Apart from being a platform for fans to meet their favourite celebrity, the event also seeks to fill the void of comic con opportunities in the region as stated by Clayton Afinowicz, the community outreach coordinator for College Station Comic Con. The convention will also feature between 75 to 100 vendors selling merchandise across an array of fandoms ranging from T-shirts, key chains, figurines to collectibles and more.
The College Station Comic Con is a family-friendly event with children aged eight and under granted free entrance. Certain events throughout the weekend, specifically cater to the younger fans, including photoshoots with the characters from the popular Disney show, Bingo and Bluey.
First-timers at the convention need not worry as there will be plenty of volunteers and staff on hand throughout the event to ensure safety and help answer any questions.
Wondering how to get started on your cosplay gear or how your favourite voice actors got into the industry? The event has all the answers. Panel and workshops during the convention will feature notable figures from the industry where guests can ask questions, take photos, and even receive autographs.
For those looking to relive the nostalgia, the convention will also feature a gaming lounge with original classic consoles such as the original PlayStation, Super Nintendo, and Sega Dreamcast. Attendees can participate in tournaments, play as long as they wish, and even stand a chance to win some exciting prizes.
One-day tickets are available for $20, with a $25 early-bird special offer available for both Saturday and Sunday. For those looking for something extra, VIP badges are also available for $80 inclusive of some added benefits. Prospective attendees can purchase their tickets beforehand via the College Station Comic Con website.
Following a successful inaugural event last year which saw between 2500 to 3000 attendees, the organizers are hopeful of repeating the success this year. As Afinowicz puts it, “We have something for every kind of fandom.” From comic books characters to anime figures and pop culture events, there’s something for everyone at the College Station Comic Con.
