On Tuesday, December 3, at 12 PM, College Station will buzz with excitement as Aggie Conversations takes center stage with a fresh discussion focused on the history and impact of Black Greek life in America. This virtual series is set to dive deep into both the challenges and triumphs of Black Greek organizations, providing an open forum for understanding and dialogue.
Aggie Conversations emerged in the summer of 2020, driven by the desire to foster understanding among Aggies from all walks of life. Weekly online panels have since become a staple for those looking to enrich their knowledge about the Black experience, particularly as it relates to the Texas A&M community.
The brainchild behind this enlightening initiative is Ken Robinson, a proud class of ’93 graduate. Ken has been heavily involved in the Aggie community, serving not only as founder and CEO of CIS-Computer Innovation Services Inc. but also as a board member of The Association of Former Students. For him, promoting a better understanding of Black culture and Greek life is both a passion and a priority.
Each week, Ken and fellow alum Rodney Pennywell welcome guests to engage in conversations aiming to assist fellow Aggies—especially those who identify as non-Black—gain insights into the nuances of the Black experience at Texas A&M. “The programs are designed to help all Aggies understand different perspectives,” Robinson noted. “We want everyone to have the space to learn and grow.”

The discussions don’t just stop at words; they create an interactive environment. Participants can anticipate asking thought-provoking questions as the panel will address them head-on. Whether it’s unraveling complex historical issues surrounding Black Greek life or discussing modern-day relevance, every question is welcome!
As with any great conversation, certain rules are in place to ensure constructive engagement:
The Aggie Conversations series illustrates the undeniable spirit of the Aggie community. When it comes to tackling important topics like race, many believe it’s vital to convene and engage thoughtfully. And in true Aggie fashion, those involved exemplify the idea that when *Aggies see a need*, they jump into action, rallying together to create a positive impact.
For those interested but unable to make it to the live discussion, don’t worry! Each episode is recorded and made available for on-demand viewing. Explore the archive for past conversations, making it easy to get caught up on all the learned insights.
As December moves ahead, College Station eagerly anticipates the important dialogues that will unfold during this week’s Aggie Conversations. Join in, share your thoughts, and step into an enlightening experience that broadens horizons and fosters understanding!
