Feel Good Friday: College Station Band Directors Honored by Arts Council

Celebrating Excellence in Music Education

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In an atmosphere of celebration and appreciations, four College Station ISD high school band directors were recognized for their noteworthy contributions to the arts. They have been honored by the eminent Arts Council of the Brazos Valley. The distinguished M.L. “Sonny” Moss Artists of the Year award was bestowed upon Steve Fry and Harry Hutchins from A&M Consolidated High School, and Jon Seal and Michael Dixon from College Station High School.

Celebrate the Arts Gala

The four talented maestros were honored at the “Celebrate the Arts” gala, the largest fundraising gala organized annually by the Arts Council. The vibrant event was a testament to the indomitable spirit of creativity, passion, and social contribution of these band directors, who have massively impacted the local arts scene.

Acknowledging the Impact of the Directors

According to the Celebrate the Arts chair, Pam Smits, this year was an ideal opportunity to commend the band directors. She exalted their role in leading their bands to the State Marching Band Competition. “These gentlemen are so important to the leadership of our future artists. We’re happy to be able to honor them,” Smits said.
