College Station Band Directors Awarded as Artists of the Year
College Station, Texas – Band directors from four prominent high schools in College Station Independent School District (ISD) were celebrated Artists of the Year by the distinguished Arts Council of the Brazos Valley. The band directors, each one from a different high school, were individually recognized for their significant contributions toward enriching the local arts community.
Affirmation for the Arts in the Brazos Valley
Band Director Steve Fry of A&M Consolidated High School, assistant Band Director Harry Hutchins, Band Director Jon Seal and assistant Band Director Michael Dixon of College Station High School were all acknowledged as M.L. “Sonny” Moss Artists of the Year at the Arts Council’s largest annual fundraising event, the Celebrate the Arts gala.
Contributions to the State Marching Band Competition
The honorees’ determination to guide their respective School Bands to the prestigious State Marching Band Competition prompted their deserved nomination by the Celebrate the Arts chair, Pam Smits. Regarding the decision to honor the band directors, Smits said, “These gentlemen are so important to the leadership of our future artists. We’re happy to be able to honor them.”
