Hey there, College Station! The holiday season is officially upon us, and what better way to ring in the cheer than with the much-anticipated Christmas Parade? Mark your calendars because this festive event is happening on Saturday, December 7th. The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. on Holleman Drive, right near the bustling Post Oak Mall, and it will make its way to Beachy Central Park, where a delightful lighting ceremony for Christmas in the Park will follow.
This parade is more than just bright lights and floats; it marks the second year that College Station has hosted a parade along this particularly festive route. Last year’s debut was a roaring success, following the cancellation of the long-standing BCS Parade that used to take place along Texas Avenue. It was a fresh start that brought the community together, and we can’t wait to see what this year has in store!
Barbara Moore, the city’s university and community relations manager, is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming event. “Last year was truly a success, and we’re looking to attract an even bigger crowd this time around,” she said. Moore emphasized that this parade is for everyone in the community. “We are looking at people from both communities—people in Bryan and College Station. This is now our community’s Christmas parade, so we are welcoming everyone to be part of it!”
Whether you’re part of a school, a church group, or even a dance or cheer team, the parade is open to you! This is your chance to showcase your creativity and spread some holiday cheer. Everyone from across Brazos County is invited to participate. So, gather your friends, family, and fellow community members, and join in on this festive celebration!
This year’s parade features a special twist: there will be a judging contest for the floats and groups participating! Awards will be given for Best Overall and Best Originality/Creativity. This is the perfect opportunity to pull out all the stops, so let your creativity shine! Put on your thinking caps and come up with something truly spectacular that will wow the crowd.
If you’re interested in entering the parade, make sure you don’t miss out. The deadline for parade entries is set for November 13th. To register, simply visit cstx.gov/parade. It’s quick and easy, and you could be part of a memorable night filled with laughter, lights, and holiday spirit!
