Whether it’s through powerlifting or the FUNdamental Sports events, these athletes have shown us the power of perseverance and spirit.

A Closer Look at Powerlifting Stars

The powerlifting events witnessed epic displays of strength and sheer determination. Among the shining stars was Mac Evans, a senior at A&M Consolidated High School who dominated the competition, snagging gold medals in back squat (71.5 kg), bench press (87.5 kg), deadlift (137.5 kg), and the triple combo (296.5 kg). His performance was nothing short of breathtaking!

Also walking away as a champion was Johan Vazquez, a graduate of A&M Consolidated who earned gold in back squat (72.5 kg) and the triple combo (227.5 kg). Additionally, he secured a silver medal in the bench press (67.5 kg) and took fourth place in the deadlift (92.5 kg).

Austin Madore, another graduate from A&M Consolidated, showcased his phenomenal strength by winning gold medals in bench press (75 kg), deadlift (125 kg), and the triple combo (265 kg) while taking silver in back squat (65 kg). This level of achievement doesn’t come easy, and Austin’s success is a true testament to his dedication and hard work.

The College Station High School senior Tyce Vela also left his mark by earning gold in back squat (75 kg), bench press (75 kg), and the triple combo (245 kg), along with a silver in the deadlift (95 kg). Freshman Nicholas Scanlin from Bryan High School rounded out the powerlifting team by securing bronze in the push/pull combo (95 kg) and garnering a few more solid placements in other events.

In a separate but equally exciting segment, the FUNdamental Sports category saw every participating athlete and their partners earn gold medals, showcasing their skills and the joy of participation. The sense of community and sportsmanship was palpable in the air, as athletes celebrated both individual and collective victories.

Coaching and Community Support

Under the guidance of dedicated coaches Devin Henry and Greg Smith for powerlifting and Elizabeth Engelhardt and Randi Daniel for FUNdamentals, the A-Team athletes demonstrated grit, resilience, and an unbeatable spirit. Their success isn’t just about medals; it’s a heartwarming reminder of what teamwork and support can achieve.
