Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley to Close for New Beginnings in Bryan

In an exciting turn of events, the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley in Bryan is set to close its doors at its current location later this month. The museum announced this significant decision on a sunny Friday, stating that it has outgrown its charming spot at Lake Walk. With the closure scheduled for Saturday, October 19, the museum will shift to a temporary online and mobile presence while they plan for a bigger and better version of the museum experience.

Still Serving Families with Fun Events

Don’t worry, families in the Brazos Valley! While the physical location may be closing, the delightful events that have become favorites aren’t going anywhere. During this transition period, families can still look forward to the return of classic events like the Daddy Daughter Dance and Rock’in Noon Year’s Eve. Plus, the museum aims to roll out new initiatives to engage with local elementary schools, ensuring that the community continues to benefit from the rich learning experiences they’ve come to love.

Looking Ahead: A Bigger Space

The main reason for this significant transition is the ambition to create a “new museum experience” in a considerably larger space within the vibrant Lake Walk area. Since opening at Lake Walk in 2021, the museum has welcomed over 50,000 guests, showcasing just how much the community values such interactive learning opportunities for children.

But that’s not all! The Lake Walk development area is buzzing with activity and is poised for some major new developments. Recently, plans were unveiled for an expansive “first-class” office and retail space by the William Cole Companies, which is significant for the entire region.

A Community Effort

As the museum prepares for its future, they’re inviting the community to be a part of this exciting journey. There are plenty of ways locals can engage, whether through planning, designing, community outreach, or donations. If you’re interested in getting involved, you can reach out via email at Board@cmbv.org. Their door is open and they welcome passionate community members to join them in this mission!

Inspiring the Next Generation

Spencer Clements, representing William Cole Companies, expressed their excitement about the future: “We love seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they walk towards the Children’s Museum. Our community needs a larger version of an interactive discovery center that will inspire the next generation.” This collaborative spirit between the museum and local developers highlights the community’s commitment to enhancing the educational landscape for children.

A Time for Transition

As the Children’s Museum wraps up its journey at the current location, the focus is shifting to the future, filled with potential and promise. The anticipation is building for a more immersive, engaging, and expansive experience that aims to cater to the needs of the growing community.

In the coming months, as plans unfold and ideas take shape, Bryan can look forward to an incredible new chapter for the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. It’s a warm invitation to everyone to stay connected and participate in this journey of transformation, ensuring that learning through play continues to be a staple in the lives of children across the region.

So gear up, Bryan! The adventure is just getting started, and there’s so much to look forward to in the months and years ahead!
