Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley Transitions to Online Format, Plans New Larger Facility

Exciting Changes Ahead for the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley

In the vibrant city of College Station, there’s big news coming from the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley. The treasured local institution has announced that it will be closing its Lake Walk facility on October 19th and transitioning to an online and mobile format for the time being. This exciting shift is all about enhancing community engagement and taking the joy of discovery and learning right to the kiddos where they are!

A Move to the Community

Pat Baker, Chair of the Board, shared their enthusiasm, stating, “We hope to see the museum even more throughout the community—in places like Bryan, College Station, schools, and surrounding counties.” This mission very much aims at being more than just a physical location. Instead, the museum is working to bring fun, education, and inspiration directly to students in local schools.

In this new phase, you can expect many familiar events to remain a constant. Signature experiences such as the Daddy Daughter Dance, Noon Year’s Eve, and the Little Sparklers will still be happening, just with a fresh twist to their delivery. Baker emphasizes that the museum is excited about the chances to connect with children and families even more dynamically than before.

Online Learning and Engagement

The shift to an online presence opens up new opportunities for learning and engagement. With this transition, families can look forward to exciting online learning activities that will keep the spirit of exploration alive. From interactive lessons to virtual activities, the museum aims to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the educational experiences they cherish.

Looking to the Future

Even as the current location closes, Baker stresses the museum’s long-term goal: “We are committed to fundraising for a new, larger museum facility at Lake Walk.” Plans are in motion to create an enriching new environment that caters to the growing needs of families in the Brazos Valley. This will offer an expansive space for guests of all ages to explore, play, create, and learn.

The new museum plans to include both permanent and rotating exhibits, accompanied by a variety of programming and activities designed to make every visit feel new and thrilling. “It’s a time to honor our deep roots in the Brazos Valley,” Baker adds, highlighting their mission to rival the best Children’s Museums in the state and nation.

The Community and Its Role

The Children’s Museum is acknowledging its incredible supporters, encouraging community involvement in this new chapter. If community members have ideas for future exhibits or wish to help with planning and designing the new facility, they are warmly invited to reach out to the museum. “We welcome support and involvement as we work together to achieve our vision,” says Baker.

As the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley prepares to say goodbye to its Lake Walk location, there’s a hopeful spirit looking forward to a bigger and brighter future ahead. They’re committed to engaging with the community in all-new ways, bringing the joy of learning right to the heart of families wherever they are. With exciting plans set in motion, the museum is ready to embrace change and continue inspiring the young minds of Brazos Valley.
