BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – On Monday Texas A&M women’s golf head coach Gerrod Chadwell announced the hiring of Allison Howarth as an Assistant Coach. The addition completes the coaching staff, bringing an impressive range of experience and skill to the Aggie team.
Howarth is a welcome addition to the team, having spent the previous three seasons as an assistant for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s golf staff. Her renowned drive and passion played a significant role in her hiring process. Gerrod Chadwell expressed his excitement stating, “Allison brings a wealth of experience to our program…it was clear she was incredibly driven and passionate. She loves to work; I am thrilled to get her back to Texas and join our staff.”
At the University of Incarnate Word, she served as a graduate assistant followed by a promotion to head coach in her final three seasons. Under her guidance, the team saw an 82-spot ranking improvement by Golfstats. While at UIW, she trained student-athletes to achieve top career low rounds and the highest career scoring averages in the school’s history.
During the 2023-24 season coaching the Hawkeyes, Howarth led the team to triumphantly shatter the Hawkeye 54-hole school record by 17 strokes at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Madison Dabagia and Paula Miranda, coached by Howarth, both achieved a school-best 209 (-7) at the Westbrook event.
In addition to her impressive coaching skills on the greens, Howarth is notable for her dedication to academia. All of her teams have achieved 3.47-grade point averages or higher. Her 2020-21 squad posted an impressive 3.80 team GPA. She mentored four WGCA Academic All-American Scholars and 20 Southland Conference Commissioner Honor Roll recipients during her time as head coach.
In response to her recruitment, Howarth expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “His vision, excitement, competitiveness, and commitment to the student-athletes are what makes Texas A&M golf elite. I’m looking forward to building on the success and excitement surrounding this team. I can’t wait to show up every day to help our players be the best version of themselves on and off the golf course.”
The wealth of experience and talent brought by Howarth to Texas A&M’s women golf is highly anticipated to lead the team to greater heights. Her proven track record, both in coaching and academic success, promises a successful future for the Aggies. As Howarth concluded in her response, “Let’s get golfing. Gig ‘Em!”
