CADETS OF CLASS OF 2028 TAKE THEIR FIRST MARCH AT FISH REVIEW
COLLEGE STATION, Texas
The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets was ablaze with excitement and anticipation as the new inductees belonging to the Class of 2028 took part in their maiden march at the esteemed annual Fish Review. The future leaders embarked on their march at the Quad, finally making their destination at the Simpson Drill Field, highlighting the Fish Review ceremony.
COMMITMENT AND DISCIPLINE
These fresh cadets pledged their commitment to the rigorous discipline and holistic training that the Corps of Cadets is renowned for. Deandre Macri, Corps Commander, sees this an invigorating time for this new group of learners.
“This right here shows that they are part of the Corps, the heartbeat of the university and that they are committed to the discipline that’s going to come through,” said Macri in high praise of the young cadets.
FRESH ENERGY IN THE CORPS
The first week of rigorous training for the cadets culminates in the Fish Review. Aurora Villarreal, the Public Relations Officer for the Corps of Cadets reflected on this momentous occasion, “It’s really nice to see all the fish finally be a part of the core. They finally get to do their first march in with all of their outfits and half of their upperclassmen and so it’s kind of their first Aggie Corps experience as I like to call it.”
LEADERSHIP CHANGES IN THE CORPS
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Corps of Cadets is experiencing some transitional changes. The current commandant Brigadier General Patrick R. Michaelis, is set to serve as the special assistant to Texas A&M President General Mark Welsh III. Rising to the occasion, retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Gen. Loyd S. “Chip” Utterback will step in as interim commandant following an announcement from President General Mark Welsh III.
Dedication and Commitment of Class of 2028
Amid these changes and the excitement of the Fish Review, the Class of 2028 cadets’ commitment and resolve have never been more apparent. Though it’s their first march, it serves as an emphatic statement of their dedication and commitment to the values that the Corps stand for. The event, thus, symbolizes the passing of the torch to the next generation of dedicated cadets ready to serve and preserve the honorable Corps of Cadets tradition.
