Local Family Develops Anti-bullying Foundation After Tragic Loss of Son

Local Family Fights Back Against Bullying with the Launch of Foundation

In College Station, Texas, the Borak family has turned their personal sorrow into a fight for change after the loss of their 17-year-old son, Trey. The teenager fell victim to suicide in December 2022 following extended periods of bullying and relationship issues that were intensified by social media. In their son’s memory, the Boraks have initiated the STOPNOW Foundation, aligning with the Uvalde Foundation to combat bullying and uphold mental health.

The Inspiration Behind STOPNOW

Dylan, Makayelynn, and Barbie Borak, devastated by their loss, are committed to preventing other families from experiencing similar suffering. “It breaks my heart to know that for months my son was dealing with the most horrendous thing that most grown men cannot even relate to. And he thought, I can handle it on my own,” Barbie Borak said about her son’s struggle. The Borak family hope to materialize their desire of helping others through the STOPNOW Foundation.

A New Approach to Bullying Prevention and Mental Health Support

The STOPNOW Foundation is stepping up to confront the brutal realities of bullying and teen mental health head-on. Dylan Borak makes it clear that they want to encourage victims of bullying to seek help. “Just want to let people know that we’re here. You don’t need to trap in all these emotions. You can talk to people. You can talk to me. You can talk to the foundation. There are places to get help,” Dylan intimated. The primary aim of the organization is to offer support, encourage communication, and raise awareness about the dangers of unchecked bullying and mental health struggles among youths.

Raising Funds for Remembrance

Simultaneously, the Borak family is fundraising to secure a fitting tombstone for Trey, a stark reminder of their painful loss. Interested donors can contribute to the fundraising drive, extending their support to a distressed family pushing for societal change.

The Way Ahead

Through STOPNOW, the Boraks are exemplifying a heartrending example of personal tragedy being transformed into hope for others. The family’s proactive step emphasizes the vital need for schools, parents, and society as a whole to take bullying and mental health issues more seriously. As the fight against bullying gains momentum, Trey’s indomitable spirit continues to live on, driving his family forward in their mission to help others and prevent such tragic loss.
