The drama began when Officer Dustin Seelig of the Bryan police department was conducting surveillance in the Forest Park Apartments area. He was investigating reports suggesting that McMiller was allegedly selling marijuana and displaying firearms online. During this surveillance, Officer Seelig spotted McMiller, who was enjoying a game of basketball. But this wouldn’t be a normal game; he saw McMiller walking around with a handgun in his hand.
As Officer Seelig exited his vehicle to approach McMiller, the situation turned dangerous. In an alarming moment, McMiller opened fire, firing off between 10 to 15 rounds, and unfortunately, he hit Seelig twice in the left arm. Following the shooting, Seelig immediately received medical treatment for his injuries at a local hospital, and happily, he has since been released.
Following the gunfire, police quickly apprehended McMiller. During the interrogation, he initially denied having a firearm but later admitted that he did possess one. Authorities were able to recover a Glock 19 X handgun with an extended magazine in a nearby empty lot, which linked him directly to the shooting incident.
McMiller currently remains in the Brazos County Detention Center with a hefty bond amounting to $300,000. The situation has raised plenty of eyebrows in the community as more details emerge. Investigators pointed out that McMiller may not have realized he was shooting at a law enforcement officer, stating he believed the officer’s unmarked vehicle “came up weird.” This assertion adds a layer of complexity to the case as it’s unclear if he understood the ramifications of his actions at the time.
