The injured officer was promptly taken to a local hospital where they received the necessary treatment for the wounds sustained near the wrist and elbow. Fortunately, the officer has since been released and is expected to recover from this frightening ordeal.

Identifying the Shooter

Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old, identified as Quincy McMiller, as a suspect in this case. Oddly enough, McMiller claims he was unaware that he had fired upon a police officer during the incident. He now faces some serious charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm. Currently, he remains in jail with no option for bail.

The trouble started when the undercover officer exited an unmarked pickup truck to pursue McMiller, who was spotted holding a firearm. After the shooting erupted, McMiller, along with three other individuals, attempted to flee from the scene but was apprehended thanks to the swift use of a drone by law enforcement.

Additional Arrests Made

Also caught in the fray was McMiller’s 17-year-old relative, Qwanell McMiller, who was arrested for evading arrest. He has been released after posting a $4,000 bond. Two additional juveniles, whose identities remain undisclosed, faced charges for resisting arrest, with one also being charged for possessing a controlled substance. It seems the events that night had a ripple effect, leading to multiple arrests.
