In the heart of Bryan, the community is coming together to support a beloved member of the police force, Detective Frank Beardsley. Tragically, his family is facing an incredibly difficult time. Following the heartbreaking loss of his younger son, Easton, affectionately known as “Boogie,” in a head-on crash on March 3rd, Beardsley’s wife, Allysa, is currently hospitalized. Such events bring a tidal wave of grief, and the outpouring of support is already making a significant difference for the Beardsley family.
Family friend Lauren Brown has reported that the support for Frank and his family has been nothing short of overwhelming. Community members are rallying around the family, demonstrating the strength of their connections and compassion. If you’re looking to lend a hand, donations can be conveniently dropped off at the front desk of the Bryan police department. Additionally, the department’s Facebook page details an exciting wristband fundraiser aimed at raising additional funds to assist the Beardsleys during this unimaginably tough time.
In other news, Brazos County is aiming toward greater governmental efficiency, with discussions scheduled for March 11. Newly appointed commissioner Fred Brown is proposing the creation of a dedicated county department for this purpose. County Judge Duane Peters has shown support for exploring how to improve operations by suggesting that each commissioner appoint two individuals to dive into the matter. This initiative could bring a fresh perspective to the workings of local government and enhance community services for all residents.
