Alarming Child Abuse Case Shakes Community

In a more distressing turn of events, a man from College Station finds himself in serious legal trouble following allegations of child abuse. Robert Cooper III, 36, has been held in Brazos County jail since last Saturday, November 30th, after being arrested by local police. According to the police report, Cooper is accused of striking his child between 10 and 30 times while parked at a Walmart.

Witnesses described a troubling scene where the father allegedly threw the child into the vehicle before delivering blows that appeared to shake the car. Officers noted visible signs of trauma on the child, who is reportedly under the age of 15, including bruises and broken blood vessels. When questioned about the incident, Cooper claimed he was merely disciplining his child. As of December 4th, he remains incarcerated on a $75,000 bond.

False Report Leads to Arrest

An 18-year-old woman also landed in hot water with law enforcement recently. Yency Ramirez was arrested after making a false report that her husband was threatening her life. An emergency call prompted a severe response from College Station police, bringing multiple units to the scene, only to discover that the situation was nothing more than a heated argument. No actual threat existed, yet Ramirez remains in custody on a hold for immigration authorities.

Residents Without Utilities Seek Assistance

Lastly, the Brazos County Commissioner Wanda Watson has been attentive to the plight of residents at the Southgate Village apartments in College Station, who have been suffering without natural gas and water. Following a tumultuous period of harsh temperatures, Watson voiced her concern for affected residents at the close of the recent commissioners’ meeting on December 3rd. She thanked those who have stepped up to assist these residents and expressed heartfelt sympathy for those enduring hardships as winter sets in.
