Hey, Bryan and College Station! Have you heard the latest buzz? The economic scene in our vibrant area is looking pretty steady, according to the recent report from Texas A&M’s Private Enterprise Research Center. Let’s break down the numbers that paint a promising picture for all of us!
First things first, let’s talk about jobs! The unemployment rate in Bryan-College Station has stayed put at 3.2% as of August, holding steady from July. That’s a lot lower than the average rate across Texas, which stands at 4.1%. It seems like our local job market is not just surviving; it’s managing to thrive!
According to Dennis Jansen, the director of the Texas A&M Private Enterprise Research Center, “We’re certainly not growing at any breakneck speeds, but we’re also continuing to show positive growth.” This means that while we’re not speeding ahead like a racecar, we’re steadily making progress, which is a relief for many.
Speaking of progress, August brought along a slight boost in local employment! More folks are finding work, which means more opportunities for everyone to support their families and contribute to the local economy. It’s a win-win in our community!
And here’s the cherry on top—Texas A&M University is seeing an increase in enrollment numbers. More students means more energy around town, more innovation, and more local spending. It’s an uplifting sign that the future is bright for education and opportunities in the area.
Now, it’s worth noting there was a slight dip in inflation-adjusted taxable sales. But don’t worry! Experts are saying there’s no real need for concern here. In fact, the steady economic environment encourages local businesses to keep their doors open and their products flowing.
Take, for instance, Zeitman’s Grocery. Owner Blake Zeitman shared some insight on the challenges and triumphs his team has faced recently. “It’s been a little tough,” said Zeitman, adding that they’ve had to be flexible and take things day by day. But guess what? The community has rallied around them. “We’ve been blessed to have a really great set of customers coming in, supporting us, helping us, you know, stay busy and keep us going.”
This is what community spirit is all about, folks! And it seems like their determination is paying off! Zeitman is even planning to expand with a new store in downtown Navasota. How exciting is that?
As for Zeitman’s outlook? He’s filled with optimism. “My outlook on the future is bright,” he enthused. “I mean, we have a really great product. We have an amazing team that’s supportive, and I think that the community knows the kind of product that we put out, and so we’re just going to continue to do what we do best and make great food.”
So there you have it, Bryan-College Station! Despite a few bumps in the road, our local economy is holding steady and moving forward. With low unemployment rates and a supportive community rallying around local businesses, it looks like our hometown is on the right path. Let’s keep that positive momentum going!
