The Bryan City Council and Brazos County Commissioners have approved significant tax breaks for Honeywell, allowing the electronics giant to expand its operations in Bryan. This expansion includes the production of ultra high purity hydrofluoric acid and is expected to generate new jobs, fostering local growth. Meanwhile, other updates include leadership changes, recent arrests, and construction initiatives in the area, reflecting a dynamic local environment.
The city of Bryan is buzzing with exciting developments after the Brazos County commissioners and Bryan City Council came together to approve significant tax breaks for none other than Honeywell, the renowned electronics chemical giant. This agreement, which was passed during a meeting on December 17, 2024, essentially gives Honeywell a warm welcome to expand its operations right here in our backyard, specifically on Mumford Road.
What’s the big deal, you ask? Well, this partnership allows Honeywell to produce “ultra high purity hydrofluoric acid,” marking the debut of its kind in the U.S. dedicated to semiconductor-grade acid. This is not just any ordinary expansion; it’s a game-changer for Bryan and the tech industry at large!
In a thrilling move, both the county and city have granted Honeywell a 50% abatement on the value of the expansion for five years. This means they’ll have a little financial breathing room as they ramp up operations. An important part of this deal is Honeywell’s commitment to boost its payroll by an impressive $909,000 starting in 2027, along with the promise of generating around 10 to 12 new jobs according to the Bryan council.
The upcoming elections slated for May 2024 will usher in new faces to major decision-making roles regarding the appraisal district office, budgeting, and appointing the Chief Appraiser. It’s an exciting time in Bryan, and these changes signify a promising future for our community!
