Creating a Reinvestment Zone at RELLIS Campus
One of the significant actions taken by the council is the creation of a reinvestment zone on the west side of the RELLIS campus. Expected to be the largest economic development project since the creation of Texas A&M University, this measure paves the way for potential property tax exemptions.
Benefits for CertainTeed Roofing Plant
In addition to creating the reinvestment zone, the council designated the new CertainTeed roofing plant and distribution center as a Texas Enterprise Zone project. This step ensures that CertainTeed is eligible to receive tax refunds on qualified expenditures, thereby contributing to business expansion efforts and job creation in the region.
Infrastructure Advancement
Extension of Waterline along Mumford Road
The council’s economic development initiatives also included the improvement of infrastructure in Bryan City. As an important measure, a contract was finalized for extending a waterline along Mumford Road, which will ultimately form a loop that serves customers in the Texas Triangle Park area. The extension project, set to cost $1.7 million, will be managed by the council and funded by the city-county economic development foundation (EDF).
Sewer Line Extension in Texas Triangle Park
The council has also agreed to oversee the construction of a $140,000 sewer line extension in Texas Triangle Park. The extension will serve a property recently sold to a company yet to be identified but is already showing promise for future investment opportunities in the city.
