In the heart of Bryan, excitement is brewing as the Brazos County Archery Club prepares to host a special benefit and memorial shoot this Saturday. The event is set to kick off at 8 a.m. and promises not just joy but also a meaningful way to support local heroes and commemorate lives lost.
Participants can look forward to a fabulous day filled with target shoots, a captivating silent auction, and a host of activities specially designed for kids. The tragic fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall on February 15 that claimed the lives of Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard will be at the forefront of this event. Both men were well-loved in the community, and the shoot serves as a heartfelt tribute to their memory.
In addition to honoring Wallace and Pickard, proceeds from the event will be directed towards assisting Bryan firefighters Mitch Moran and Ricky Mantey. These brave men were injured while trying to rescue those trapped in the fire, demonstrating sheer courage and selflessness. Now it’s our turn to come together and support them during their recovery.
Participants can choose from two different shooting events: the pop-up event, which costs $20, or the more intricate 3-D event priced at $30. Don’t worry if you’re bringing the kiddos! Children aged 10 and under can shoot for just $5, while older children between 11 to 15 can join for $15. And for those who just want to come and watch, there’s good news: spectators are absolutely free!
A delicious lunch will be prepared by the Knights of Columbus, with all proceeds from the meal going directly to the benefit fund. This way, not only can attendees enjoy a tasty meal, but they’ll also contribute to a noble cause as they chow down.
The archery club is located at 1715 Louis St. in Bryan. So, whether you’re an archery expert, a novice eager to learn, or simply a supporter of community spirit, you won’t want to miss out on being part of this heartwarming day.
Events like these remind us of the strength of community and the impacts we can make when we unite for a common cause. The archery club not only promotes the sport but also fosters a sense of belonging and togetherness that echoes across Bryan.
So, grab your bows, bring the family, and join us this Saturday for a day filled with camaraderie, remembrance, and plenty of festive fun. Let’s come together to honor the fallen and support the heroes who continue to protect our community! Your participation will make a difference and help spearhead the efforts in assisting those affected by this tragic incident.
As always, stay tuned for more local happenings and community events as Bryan continues to thrive. Every small act of participation adds up to create the vibrant atmosphere we cherish so much.
Mark your calendars and let’s make this Saturday a memorable one!
