SNOOK, Texas – In a bid to expand its presence and meet the increasing demand for fresh groceries, the popular grocery store chain, Brookshire Brothers, is reportedly considering Snook as a potential location for its new branch.
The local residents of Snook currently have only two grocery stores to meet their needs. Unfortunately, the availability of fresh food items in these stores leaves much to be desired, forcing locals to drive to out of town stores, a considerable inconvenience.
Diana Najera, a local restaurant manager, highlights the issue, **”We’ll be out of cilantro or something, and we’ll be out of it for maybe a few days until they drop it off.”** She believes that an additional grocery store could only be a boon for Snook.
Mayor Frank Fields, understanding the need for a more comprehensive grocery solution, has expressed his office’s attempts to attract Brookshire Brothers to set up shop in Snook.
Fields states, **”They are at least interested enough that we’re trying to schedule a meeting with them.”** He acknowledges, however, that the final decision rests with the corporate executives of the grocery chain.
A new store could potentially contribute to the city’s economy, given the tax revenue it would generate. “We can get some tax revenue from the city’s standpoint,” says Fields.
The prospect has already seen local support, such as from Diana Najera who has to travel to Bryan or College Station for groceries, being a new mother. “It’d just be really nice and convenient, and I think everyone would agree,” she said.
This latest development points towards a promising development for Snook residents. If everything goes according to plan, it might not be long before Snook witnesses the grand opening of a new Brookshire Brothers grocery store.
