As the prodigal daughter of College Station, Brianna Hildebrand had a simple beginning before her meteoric rise to fame. Not too long ago, she was a 17-year-old girl supported by Nikki Pederson Talent agency, seeking her fortune in Los Angeles. Today, she is a renowned actress, famous for her riveting portrayal of Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the popular “Deadpool” series.
Hildebrand, now bolder and wiser, remembers her roots in College Station. “[Negasonic] enjoys poking the bear, like in the case of Deadpool, and I was a lot like that growing up,” Hildebrand reminisced during a recent Zoom interview. She affirms that the years spent growing up in her hometown have enriched her acting, enabling her to relate with her teenage character on a personal level.
With the forthcoming of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Hildebrand is set to captivate audiences once again as she reprises the role of Negasonic. The movie is set to hit theaters on Friday, and as expected, it’s generating a buzz among fans and critics alike. Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, joins Deadpool to save the world from an existential threat, setting the stage for an action-filled blockbuster.
Apart from being a groundbreaking project bringing two iconic characters together, “Deadpool and Wolverine” holds significance for its refreshing protagonist. According to Hildebrand, Deadpool is closer to an anti-hero than a conventional superhero. “He’s a funny, foul-mouthed guy doing whatever he wants to do. He’s very morally flexible.“, remarks Hildebrand.
Creating Negasonic was an exciting venture for Hildebrand. With minimum background about the character from the comic books, Hildebrand had immense creative freedom to shape Negasonic into her own vision. “I’m pretty sure Negasonic dies at the end of that comic book and she looked nothing like the way I did. That was also exciting because I could make up a lot of her backstory,” she said. Embracing the whole process, Hildebrand invested her imagination and emotions to breathe life into her fictional doppelganger.
Reflecting on her journey so far, Hildebrand acknowledges her aspirations for the entertainment world since childhood. Her passion and determination drove her through a culture shock from College Station to Los Angeles and helped deal with countless rejections. With a promising career ahead, she advices her younger self and every aspiring teenager to “relax“.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfayden, “Deadpool & Wolverine” promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. With action, humor, and a beautiful message centered around friendship and found family, the movie is set to hit both the box office and the hearts of moviegoers this weekend.
