With minimum background about the character from the comic books, Hildebrand had immense creative freedom to shape Negasonic into her own vision. “I’m pretty sure Negasonic dies at the end of that comic book and she looked nothing like the way I did. That was also exciting because I could make up a lot of her backstory,” she said. Embracing the whole process, Hildebrand invested her imagination and emotions to breathe life into her fictional doppelganger.
