Today is the day, Brenham! The clock is ticking, and there’s still time for residents to roll up their sleeves and give back through the 6th Annual Brazos Valley Gives. This exciting fundraiser for local nonprofit organizations will come to a close today, with only 18 hours left for generous hearts to make their donations count!
This year, a remarkable 198 nonprofits are participating, each with their own unique missions and goals. The overall fundraising goal for the event is an impressive $1.5 million. If you’re wondering how you can help, it’s as easy as clicking a few buttons online or stopping by one of several in-person donation spots scattered throughout the community.
For those who prefer the digital route, donations can be made online through the official website. But if you like the thrill of handing over your donation in person, you can drop by places like the Washington County Chamber of Commerce office right here in Brenham. Other locations for in-person donations include the Bryan-College Station Eagle, the Caldwell Civic Center, and the Navasota Center.
According to Chamber President Jamie Rankin, today is all about inspiring and motivating individuals to support the causes they believe in. It’s a beautiful opportunity to strengthen our community bonds through charity. By mid-afternoon, around $710,000 had already been raised through online donations alone. Just imagine how much more can be added to that total with in-person contributions!
One of the standout points of this year’s event is how much it has grown. Polli Satterwhite, a dedicated volunteer from the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, pointed out that Washington County’s participation has increased significantly since its inaugural involvement in 2020. The number of participating nonprofits has jumped from 13 to 29 this year, illustrating a strong desire within our community to give and engage.
On top of collecting donations, this initiative serves an even greater purpose. It provides a platform for nonprofit organizations to educate the public about their services and missions. It’s a chance for both nonprofits and community members to rally together, showcasing the heart and soul of Brenham.
Now, you might be wondering when the final results will be revealed. Stay tuned for a Celebration of Philanthropy event happening in November, where all the totals raised during the campaign will be announced. This special gathering will take place at the George Bush Library in College Station, and attendees can also look forward to several incentives and prizes awarded throughout the event.
Feeling inspired? Now is your chance! To check out the list of participating nonprofits and see where your donations can make the biggest impact, hop over to the official Brazos Valley Gives website. Remember, online giving is open until 10 p.m. tonight, so there’s still plenty of time to join in on the fun!
Let’s make this year’s Brazos Valley Gives a memorable one. Every little bit helps, and together, we can reach that ambitious goal of $1.5 million. Happy giving, Brenham!
