Brazos County Paves the Way for Drainage Improvements
In a commendable step towards improving the infrastructure of Brazos County, the county commission has unanimously granted a hefty $704,000 construction contract aimed at enhancing the drainage system between the extension office and the tax office.
The decision was announced in the commission’s meeting on July 23rd, 2024, with no objections from any commissioner. This development comes in response to recurring issues caused by substantial rainfall typically affecting the area in front of the extension office.
A Comprehensive Approach to Drainage Issue
According to county purchasing agent, Charles Wendt, the project’s scope includes the demolition of existing sidewalks, concrete paving, and raised planter beds. The land’s slope will be adjusted to facilitate proper drainage, and underground pipes will be introduced before the concrete is laid back.
Moreover, the project will see the installation of a larger canopy at the front entrance of the tax office, providing an additional advancement to the county’s infrastructure. With weather conditions permitting, the completion of this complex project is expected within a 90-day time frame.

During the county commission meeting held on July 23rd, the agreement was fully approved and is now available for public review and download. This transparency ensures that the community can stay informed about the actions being taken on their behalf.
