Triple Arrest in Brenham Rattles Community Amidst Wave of Local Crime

Residents of Brenham, Texas have been shaken by a series of arrests that took place last Thursday, with three individuals being taken into custody by the Brenham Police Department.
Routine Morning Patrol Leads to First Arrest of the Day
The string of events began at 9:00 AM when Brenham police officers responded to a tip regarding a suspected individual located in the 2200 block of Highway 290 East. Eric Derrow, a 23 year old from Somerville, was swiftly apprehended on the scene. Derrow was reported to have multiple active warrants including alleged Possession of Marijuana between 4oz and 5lbs, a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge issued out of College Station P.D, a Motion to Revoke Probation-Burglary of a Building mandate issued out of Brazos County, as well as a Speeding charge dispensed by Washington County.
Afternoon Traffic Stop Yields Unexpected Results
Late in the afternoon at approximately 2:50 PM, Sergeant Jimmy Ha launched what seemed to be a routine traffic stop near the 1900 block of Highway 290 West. However, things took a turn when the driver, Ariel Adolpho Mendez, 26 of Houston, was arrested. Mendez faced two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and a single charge of Possession of Marijuana between 4oz and 5lbs.
Night Falls, Yet Crime Doesn’t Cease
Undeterred, the Brenham Police Department continued their efforts into the night. At 10:10 PM, Officer Nicolas Conforti initiated a traffic stop in a significantly denser area – the 2700 block of Highway 290 West. A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the arrest of Valeria Margot Perez, a 28-year-old passenger from Houston, for possession of narcotics. Perez was subsequently transported to the Washington County Jail where she was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.
