Armstrong Ascends to Director of Planning & Development Services

Armstrong Promoted to New Role in College Station

College Station, a city that is no stranger to constant growth and development, has announced on Monday a new director for its Planning & Development Services. City officials have promoted Anthony Armstrong to this prominent post effective from early May.

Impressive Track Record

Beginning his career with the city’s planning and development services team in 2016, Armstrong has consistently showcased his commitment to the development of College Station. In 2021, he ascended to the role of land development review administrator, where he was pivotal in the creation of a new division of multidisciplinary planners and engineers.

Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Armstrong stated, “I’m honored to have been selected for this new role to continue serving the City of College Station. I’m eager to work and collaborate with my team, colleagues, and the community to address College Station’s remarkable growth and the positive impact we can have as One City, One Team.”

Significant Contributions

Armstrong’s significant contributions to the city’s economic development efforts are undeniable. His initiatives include the expansion of Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, bringing in high-profile enterprises like Costco, and the inception of the city’s Middle Housing zoning initiative. He was also instrumental in forming the Wellborn Community Plan.

The City Expresses Confidence

Upon Armstrong’s promotion, Bryan Woods, City Manager of College Station, expressed his confidence in Anthony’s ability to excel in his new role. Woods cited Armstrong’s strong commitment and public service, saying, “He’s done incredible work in our Planning and Development Services Department, and we’re thrilled for him to continue that success as a leader in his new role as a director.”

As College Station continues to grow and thrive while meeting the diverse needs of a constantly evolving city, Armstrong’s leadership and strategic mindset will undoubtedly serve the city well. He will step into his role as Director of Planning & Development Services with immediate effect, aiming to foster the city’s growth and development in a sustainable and community-oriented way.
