B/CS Salvation Army Opens Angel Tree Holiday Assistance Applications

B/CS Salvation Army Opens Angel Tree Holiday Assistance Applications

Bryan/College Station

Expressing the spirit of giving, the Bryan/College Station (B/CS) branch of the Salvation Army has launched open applications for the Angel Tree holiday assistance program. A tradition that dates back over three decades, the Angel Tree is a heartfelt project aiming to support families in need during the holiday season. Soup kitchens, shelters, and social-service programs are only some of the many ways the Salvation Army embodies its dedication to helping communities, with Angel Tree standing out as an annual highlight.

Application Periods and Requirements

There are two application periods that invite parents or legal guardians of children aged 12 and younger to register for assistance – September 9-23, and September 30-October 13. Interested applicants can sign up on the program’s official website, www.saangeltree.org.

To apply, parents and guardians are required to provide a number of specific documents: a photo ID of the applicant, valid proof of guardianship, birth certificates of all kids who are 12 years old and younger, and a current Benefit Award Letter such as a Food Stamps Award letter, Social Security Award letter, Disability Award letter, or TANF paperwork.

For those who do not have a current benefits award letter, the following documents will be required – proof of rent/mortgage, such as a rent receipt, lease agreement, or mortgage statement. Proof of income for everyone in the household is necessary, too.

The Salvation Army reiterates that applicants should keep an eye on their emails for additional instructions and follow up once they’ve started the process. To receive further assistance or information about the application, applicants can either send an email to bryan.texas@uss.salvationarmy.org or make a call to 979-361-0618.

Potential applicants can access the Angel Tree application flyer through the links available on the Salvation Army’s website.

Angel Tree: A Catalyst for Change

This annual initiative by the Salvation Army has become a beacon of hope for families in need. Receiving applications and holiday wishes from kids who wouldn’t otherwise experience the joy of festive presents, the project turns these wishes into reality through public sponsorship. On this tree of solidarity, every angel holds a child’s holiday desire. Then, sponsors – individual, business, or group – select an angel, purchase the desired gifts, and return them to the Army, which in turn delivers them to the families in a pre-Christmas celebration.

Preparing to ring bells on generosity, the B/CS Salvation Army seeks to provide holiday cheer to families in need, simultaneously encouraging the community to participate in this heartening endeavor. While the Angel Tree project is specific to the holiday season, the Salvation Army’s commitment to helping communities in need persists throughout the year, manifesting in various charitable initiatives and services.
