Rotary Club of Aggieland hosts Unconventional Bingo to Feed Necessitous Families

Helping Hand During the Holiday Season

Ranked among the most philanthropic communities in the Brazos Valley, the Rotary Club of Aggieland never ceases to surprise the locals with their ingenious fundraising ideas. This time, they have come up with a unique and captivating plan to help 500 needy families relish a hearty Thanksgiving meal.

Chicken Scratch Bingo

Bringing a fresh twist to an old classic, the Rotary Club of Aggieland is gearing up to host the 7th iteration of their annual Chicken Scratch Bingo. This isn’t your regular bingo game – it entails people buying bingo squares for a chance to win substantial money, with the quirky twist that chickens determine the outcome!

Buying options for squares are set at $100 per square or three squares for $250. Chickens are then allowed to meander across a bingo board laden with numbers. The winning selection is made based on the first two numbers that the chickens ‘mark’. Winners stand to win either $1,000 or $2,000, depending on their luck and the choice of the chickens!

The Venue and Time

The unique Chicken Scratch Bingo game will take place on the 4th of October as part of the First Friday celebrations. The game commences at 6 pm in Downtown Bryan, just across the street from the well-known Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. The event is open to everyone, absolutely free of charge. Children will have a joyful opportunity to feed the chickens before they are released on the game board.

The Bigger Picture

All proceeds from the event will be channeled to fund the Thanksgiving Basket Project. The project aims to ensure that 500 families in need in the Brazos Valley have the necessary provisions for a Thanksgiving meal, bringing a semblance of the holiday spirit to their homes. Each basket is designed to feed six to eight people, comprising of a turkey and other necessary sides.

Purchase a Square, Extend a Helping Hand

Whether you’re a long-time Bryan local or a student looking to give back, be sure to hop over to the Rotary Club’s website www.aggielandrotary.org to purchase a square and help make this Thanksgiving a little more joyous for struggling families in the Brazos Valley.
