Aggieland Outfitters Makes Generous Donation to Southside Historic Neighborhood
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The oldest neighborhood in College Station, Southside Historic Neighborhood, has received a considerable financial boost from the new Aggieland Outfitters location situated on Fairview Drive. In a show of gratitude and community support, Aggieland Outfitters has donated $25,000 to this historic neighborhood.
Strong Relationship between Local Community and Aggieland Outfitters
Fadi Kalaouze, the owner of Aggieland Outfitters, expressed the company’s intention of giving back to the welcoming community. “We like to give back in general, but the fact that they accepted us here was like a thank you,” said Kalaouze. The local population has shown to be supportive when the store established its newer location.
Preserving the Historic Neighborhood
The Southside Historic Neighborhood, established in 1940 and solely visited frequently during the football season due to its location close to Kyle Field, has residents who value its historicity. One such resident, Katherine Edwards, resides in the house her grandparent’s constructed in this very area. Edwards emphasized the importance of preserving the neighborhood’s heritage. “There are a lot of people that live in College Station that don’t even know this area is here. It was College Station. It was the first College Station,” said Edwards.
Plan for the Donated Funds
The Southside Historic Neighborhood Committee plans to utilize the generous donation of $25,000 to amplify the historic nature of the neighborhood. The plans include employing the funds towards the fabrication and installation of signage that clearly designates the neighborhood’s historic status. The Committee believes that these distinct signboards will enhance the visual appeal and historical significance of the area.
