Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach Expands Fall Parenting Programs

COLLEGE STATION, Texas

In response to the startling statistics of high school and college students experiencing unplanned pregnancies, Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach (APO) has amplified its efforts to offer support to young parents. According to the non-profit, one in four high school students and one in five college students go through an unplanned pregnancy. To combat this issue, APO has a full lineup of programs scheduled for Fall to assist these young parents.

Expanded Programs for Young Parents

The non-profit’s initiative, The Mama Club, is a weekly event operating during the academic year. Teenage parents are given an opportunity to participate with their children in a variety of fun, educational activities aimed to improve their parenting skills. More than just a gathering, it is a bonding community where younger parents can connect, learn, and enjoy.

With its recent expansion, The Mama Club 2.0, the organisation will now be offering more personalized programs for parents up till the age of 25. This delivery aims to provide education, employment, budgeting, and financial help especially for moms aged 20 to 25.

Weekly Event Details

The Mama Club meets weekly every Tuesday from 6-8 P.M at the Connecting Point Church, located at Harvey Road Suite 300, College Station. Simultaneously, the Real Men Club holds a gathering where dads enjoy dinner before breaking off into smaller groups. In these workshops, they discuss accountability, leadership skills, and fitness. The purpose of this is to foster a sense of responsibility and community among young fathers.

Registration Information

Interested participants are encouraged to register in advance, but on-the-day registrations are welcomed. You may RSVP for these events on the organisation’s official website or for more information, call or text 979-764-6636.

Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach’s expanded effort to include more parents and provide them with much-needed skills and support is a positive step towards creating a supportive community for these young individuals. Their targeted approach aims to combat the challenges of unplanned pregnancies with education, making it an essential local resource. The parents who participate in these programs will not only be equipped with better parenting skills, but they will also benefit from the camaraderie and peer-support these community initiatives offer.
