Harley Wheelie Leads to Arrest While Community Honors Long-Serving Trustee Charles Moser

Latest Happenings in College Station

College Station has seen a variety of events and updates making headlines recently, from motorcycle antics after a fun night out to tributes from the local education community. Let’s dive into the details!

Harley Davidson Wheelie Leads to Arrest

In a somewhat wild twist of events last Saturday, just after the bars closed, an officer noticed a Harley Davidson motorcycle performing a wheelie right on Church Avenue, crossing Boyett. The daring stunt didn’t go unnoticed, as two officers on bicycles promptly stopped the motorcycle at Church and Second Street.

The rider, 19-year-old Christopher Lange, was soon taken into custody. However, he managed to get himself released after posting a bond of $2,000. Interestingly, this wasn’t Lange’s first brush with the law; at the time of his arrest, he was already out on bond awaiting trial for an incident in October 2022, where he allegedly drove a pickup truck right through the lawn of Wellborn Middle School. The damages from that escapade were estimated to be a staggering $21,882, and it didn’t end there—Lange’s truck even caught fire during the incident!

Recurring Trouble for College Station Man

On a more serious note, Kenton Lister, a 35-year-old resident, has recently found himself in jail for the sixth time in just 16 months. Lister is currently facing a slew of charges linked to family violence, which includes aggravated assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious bodily injury and continuous family violence.

The College Station police report details a harrowing event that took place on the night of October 9th. Lister reportedly forced his way into a victim’s home, causing damage to the door frame, and for an exhausting 13 hours, the victim was continuously assaulted. Thankfully, the victim’s ability to cleverly separate herself and her infant from Lister allowed her to reach out for help, leading to Lister’s arrest.

Previously, there have been multiple incidents involving Lister, with one occurring as early as February 2023 when he was arrested for family violence strangulation involving a different victim. Online jail records further show that he has faced various charges over the past months, including a burglary of a habitation and possession of marijuana. As of October 17th, Lister remains in jail, facing a whopping $390,000 in bonds for the new charges.

A Fond Farewell to Charles Moser

Switching gears to a more positive note, the College Station community recently honored Charles Moser, a long-serving member of the Blinn College board of trustees, at his final meeting. Moser has contributed almost a decade of his time to the board, and during the meeting held on October 16th, board members took a moment to reflect on his remarkable achievements.

The board members expressed their gratitude with a heartfelt resolution that outlined Moser’s many accomplishments while in service. Dr. Mary Hensley, Chancellor of the Blinn College District, praised Moser’s leadership, especially regarding significant partnerships that strengthened Blinn College’s position as a leading institution. Jim Kolkhorst, the board chair, also spoke warmly of Moser, letting him know that his absence will truly be felt.

Following Moser’s tribute, the board welcomed Richard O’Malley as the new trustee to take on Moser’s unexpired term. O’Malley, who retired earlier in the year, has ample knowledge and experience from his extensive career at Blinn College, adding a valuable perspective to the board.

Looking Ahead

As College Station continues to balance between serious events and supportive community milestones, it’s clear that there is never a dull moment in the city. Whether it’s dealing with the aftermath of reckless antics or honoring dedicated community members, there’s always something happening that reminds us of the complexities and the camaraderie within our local culture.
