It appears the review is a regular process and will be conducted every two years.
Currently, Texas A&M offers a total of 320 programs, including 176 certificates and 144 minors. Interestingly enough, although 44 certificates and 26 minors were initially set for deactivation, some were exempt due to specific requirements from accreditation bodies. The university mentioned that some programs had no students enrolled for the past two years, prompting their decision.
What Programs Are Affected?
While details of the specific programs set for deactivation are not public yet, some directors have come forward to confirm their programs will be affected. Notably, the LGBTQ Studies minor is among them, as stated by Theresa Morris, Director of Women’s and Gender Studies.
