Bryan High School Welding Students Get Exciting Opportunity with Monster Jam
In the vibrant city of Bryan, Texas, students at Bryan High School are about to embark on a thrilling adventure, thanks to a groundbreaking collaboration between Northern Tool + Equipment and Monster Jam. This exciting partnership, which unfolded after months of secrecy, is set to change the lives of many aspiring welders at the school.
A Secret Unveiled
After keeping the big news under wraps since July, welding instructor Christopher Lehde finally revealed to his students that they would be working on building a stunning seven-foot mini monster truck. “I’m ecstatic,” Lehde expressed, filled with joy at the opportunity the students would receive. “Just seeing them complete it is going to be amazing.”
Junior student Juan Quiroga shared his surprise about the revelation, stating, “He was telling us it was going to be much more difficult, but like we were going to have much more fun with it. That’s what he was leading on, but none of us ever expected this.” The excitement in the classroom was palpable as the students learned about their unique project.

The welding students will have the extraordinary opportunity of working alongside professional Monster Jam crew members, including Truck Crew Chief Bill Easterly and drivers from famous monster trucks like Grave Digger and El Toro Loco. Under their guidance, the students will learn not only how to weld, but also how to ensure their final creation meets the high standards of a true monster truck.
Junior Finnian Curtis remarked, “Even though it’s a one-third size, a whole monster truck, it’s crazy.” It’s this kind of hands-on, immersive experience that will truly prepare the students for future endeavors in trade fields.

Co-owners Ryan and Wade Kotula are especially passionate about getting students back into the trades. “Getting these kids back into the trades is something we are very interested in,” Ryan stated, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting local communities.
