Free Car Seat Safety Event Coming to Bryan
If you’re in or around Bryan, this Saturday is a fantastic opportunity for parents and caregivers to focus on child safety! A free car seat safety event will be held at the Brazos Center, located at 3232 Briarcrest Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
What’s Happening?
This event is organized by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Passenger Safety and KidSafe Initiatives program. They’re teaming up with the Daniel Stark Law Firm to make sure families know how to keep their little ones safe while traveling in cars. It’s a great way to learn more about car seat safety and get hands-on assistance.
Highlights of the Event
During the event, you can expect to see free car seat inspections. Yes, you read that right – your car seats will be checked for proper installation to ensure they meet safety standards! Experts will be on hand to help parents and caregivers learn how to install their car seats correctly, making sure children are as safe as possible.
And that’s not all! The event will also provide car seats to families in need. This is such a wonderful opportunity for those who might not have access to a car seat or who need to upgrade as their child grows.
A Timely Reminder
This event kicks off National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, which runs from September 15-21. It’s a critical time for parents to take a moment to reflect on their child safety measures. According to studies, only one in five parents regularly check their child’s car seat for the correct installation, which can be a bit alarming when you think about it!

Ayde Edwards, a program coordinator with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, mentioned, “Through this event, we are aiming to educate parents and caregivers about the proper ways to install their car seats and even inform them about the next phase of car seats that are appropriate for their child’s age, weight, and height.”
Edwards emphasizes how important it is to understand how to properly dress infants and toddlers in their car seats. These small adjustments can make a big difference in how secure and comfortable a child is during a ride.
