Association to celebrate its 145th anniversary at the event

Founded in 1879 as the ex-cadets association, this organization aims to gather 1,879 gifts from donors within 24 hours in honor of its inception year. The entire fundraising day is dedicated to giving back to the Aggie community and its network.

Adding to the celebrations, the association is also marking its 145th anniversary this year with grand plans. All contributions collected from this event will be channeled towards scholarships, emergency financial aid, student assistance, and organizational support. Through such programs, hundreds of students benefit from association scholarships annually.

The Association: A Bedrock of Campus Life

Mary Grace McQuillan, the manager of Annual Giving, described the significant role the association plays in enriching campus life. “Everyone on campus is somehow touched by the Association of former students. From the Aggie amateur radio club to the scholarships we give to students in need,” McQuillan pointed out.

To further motivate potential donors, the organization has planned several giving challenges throughout the event. Randy Reyes, the association’s Director of Marketing, highlights how these funds assist the Aggie network in unexpected ways. “Former students looking for an Aggie muster in their area are often new to the locality. The support we provide to A&M clubs in that area gives them an opportunity to connect with other Aggies,” Reyes said.

Creating Connections Across The World

This Toronto-based association doesn’t just limit its operations to the local region, but it also connects former students globally. Via its programs, such as A&M clubs, class reunions, and local musters, it fosters a nurturing and supportive Aggie network across the world.

Moreover, it extends its helping hand to members of the Aggie network in times of crisis. “We’ve met with students whose mother had passed away and thought about quitting school but were able to continue their education due to the support from the association,” asserted Reyes.
