Series of Arrests in Texas Sees Charges for Shoplifting, Drug Possession, and Stolen Firearm
College Station, Texas – An extensive series of arrests took place last week, encompassing various charges including expensive shoplifting, robbery, and the possession of drugs and a stolen gun, as per the local law enforcement agency reports.
High-Value Shoplifting Charges
On Friday evening (August 9, 2024), the local police responded to a shoplifting call at the Post Oak Mall. The arrest led to recovery of merchandise estimated at over $3,800. The stolen items included 39 clothing items, 15 power and hand tools, two ice coolers, and a box of gloves. The authorities arrested two individuals – a man and a woman from the Austin area. They remain detained on felony theft charges. The bond for the 47-year-old man, Lonnel Thorton, was set at $6,000. The woman, Elizabeth Nance, 49, also faces a felony theft warrant from Hays County, pushing her bond total to $12,000.
Robbery Arrest
In a separate incident, during three consecutive days last week (August 7, 8, and 9), Bryan police arrested a man for disorderly conduct and language. The third arrest escalated to a robbery charge. Nicholas Petty, who celebrated his 31st birthday on arrest day, allegedly threatened two individuals with a knife demanding their phones and money. The bond for Petty’s robbery charge is set at $11,000.
Stop Sign Ignored Leads to Drug and Stolen Firearm Charges
Last Thursday night (August 8, 2024), two College Station police officers saw a car running a stop sign. During the traffic stop that followed, a passenger in the car admitted to possessing up to five pounds of marijuana. Patrick Hunter Jr., a 26-year-old resident of College Station, also faces charges for theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a gun by a felon. The officers recovered more than $10,000 in cash during the incident. The driver of the car however, was not arrested. Hunter remains in jail with bonds totaling $18,000.
