College Station Police Assists in Arresting Two West Texas Natives
In collaboration with the U.S. Marshal’s office and Huntsville police, the College Station Police Department (CSPD) succeeded in detaining a West Texas man, who had reportedly threatened to confront law enforcement officers with gunfire if approached. The man was found with a female companion inside a stolen pickup truck that departed from Home Depot on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Detailed Account of the Arrest
The Marshal’s office sought assistance from CSPD to apprehend the armed suspect, who had warned about resorting to shooting if contacted by police. The man, accompanied by a woman, was spotted exiting the Home Depot premises and promptly entered the pickup truck. The vehicle was reported stolen from Huntsville.
The truck, after leaving the Home Depot parking area, headed west on University, before the driver made a turn onto Spring Loop. A CSPD official, who was tailing the vehicle, tried to execute a traffic halt on Spring Loop. However, the driver chose not to comply, resulting in a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds up to 80 miles per hour. The chase eventually led into the Chimney Hill neighborhood, concluding on Hearthstone Circle, a cul-de-sac. Both occupants of the truck were arrested after stepping outside of the vehicle.
Identification and Charges
The man driving the truck was identified as 26-year-old Tyler Axel Rogers from Andrews. He faced CSPD charges for evading arrest while driving a stolen vehicle and possession of a stolen firearm. Having a prior record as a felon, additional charges were laid against him. Jail records revealed Rogers was also wanted on warrants from Gaines County, Texas, for crimes of theft, burglary of a structure, and evasion, a warrant from Yoakum County, Texas for unauthorized use of a vehicle, and a warrant from Lea County, New Mexico for providing false evidence of title and registration. As of July 24, Rogers remains in custody, awaiting the fulfillment of bonds totaling $113,000.
Accompanying Rogers was 31-year-old Danielle Castillo of Seminole, Texas. Castillo was charged by CSPD for possession of methamphetamine. Moreover, outstanding warrants from Gaines County, Texas for theft of a firearm and illicit possession of a firearm by a felon held her accountable. As of July 24, Castillo likewise remains jailed awaiting bond fulfillment totaling $61,000.
