Parent Arrested At Elementary School For Refusing To Vacate Child’s Bathroom

College Station, Texas – A parent was arrested at a College Station elementary school for refusing to leave a female child’s bathroom, stands in custody with a bond set at $25,000.

A Series of Unusual Events

The incident occurred on June 12 as 43-year-old Peng Yu walked into Creekview Elementary School to drop his child off at a summer program. Upon releasing his child to the program, he allegedly made his way to a bathroom designated specifically for female children.

According to arrest records, despite being asked by the on-duty security guard to vacate the premise, Yu outrightly refused. It is noteworthy that Yu had been previously cautioned on June 7th against using the child-specific bathrooms, having been advised to use the adult facilities instead.

Resistance against Police

The situation escalated when the police had to intervene to remove Yu from the bathroom. Yu allegedly refused to comply and proceeded to resist arrest in a rather theatrical manner, curling into a ball on the ground. Subsequently, the arresting officers resorted to a mechanical breach of the stall door to force him out of the bathroom.

The Elementary School’s Statement

The violation triggered an immediate reaction from College Station ISD, which verified the incident through an email blast to families. The correspondence confirmed that the incident did occur as stated in the reported arrest record, adding that it took place as the parent involved was dropping his child off at Creek View Elementary’s Summer Enrichment Camp.

Legal Process Underway

Upon being charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest, Yu was detained and is currently held on a combined $25,000 bond. It remains unclear if a court date has been set or if Yu has retained a defense attorney.

Impact on the Community

The incident has generated significant discussion among parents and community members about school security procedures. The security and safety of students are paramount, but this event raises important questions about access limitations for parents in schools and how best to safeguard the students whilst balancing parental access rights.
