BTU Customers Noticing a Minor Rate Change
Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) customers will experience a small adjustment in their bills this month due to rising transmission costs. Public information officer, Meagan Brown, states that the utility company uses data provided by the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to determine how to handle these minor rate changes. The adjustment is a part of the company’s efforts to maintain cost of service, without having to subsidize with any other portion of the rate.
Varying Costs According to Customer Locations
The minor rate adjustments are a part of what is referred to as a “pass through cost.” Starting from June 1, these costs have gone down by ten cents for the BTU rural customers situated within the College Station city limits. On the contrary, the cost has gone up 15 cents for those in the rural residential areas outside College Station. Furthermore, BTU customers residing in Bryan will have to pay an additional 17 cents a month.
