Bryan Man Faces Charges for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Vehicle Burglary

A Local Resident Arrested

A local man in Bryan has been detained on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. The accused, Jeremiah Botley, 28, is also facing allegations for the burglary of a vehicle in an unrelated incident according to Brazos County Jail records.

Details of the Case

The sexual assault allegation dates back to February 28, 2023, following a report that Botley had allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old. Further to the sexual assault, on May 8, local law enforcement responded to a complaint about theft from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Hollow Circle. The victim of the vehicle robbery positively identified Botley as the individual who had broken into her vehicle.

In a statement given to the police, Botley claimed he had not committed the theft. He explained that he was merely returning to his hotel after a meeting with an acquaintance he met through a dating platform.

Pending Legal Consequences

The crime of aggravated sexual assault of a minor is regarded as a first-degree felony in Texas. Offenders may face serious consequences, including a maximum prison sentence of up to 99 years, and a fine reaching up to $10,000. The separate charge for vehicle burglary is classified as a class “A” misdemeanor, attracting up to a year in jail and a financial penalty of $4,000.

Current Detention Status

Botley is held under a $52,000 bond as per the latest details from jail records. Any information possibly revealing the identity of the underage victim has been omitted from the probable cause report by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office in order to safeguard the child.
