Bryan ISD Employees and Parents Notified of Cost Cutting Measures for 2024-25 School Year
Ginger Carrabine, Bryan ISD’s superintendent, notified parents and staff about the pivotal cost-cutting strides being taken for the upcoming academic year 2024-25. In her announcement, she emphasized that despite these developments, every student program will continue to be accessible. Additionally, she assured that every returning staff member will maintain their position.
Central Office Vacancies to Remain Unfilled
Carrabine stated that, to manage the financial challenges, the school district would not fill some present and imminent vacancies in the central office, both external and internal. While she did not outline the specific number of role vacancies, she declared that people who had been with Bryan ISD for many years and held significant roles would not be replaced—at least for now.
Carrabine on Budget Reductions and Potential Savings
Moreover, in addition to personnel adjustments, Carrabine laid out various other budget reductions, which include energy conservation, updating school nutrition cost sharing, reducing staff travel to conferences, and adjusting class ratios. She added that while they are still processing the information and working on cost-saving measures, it is premature to estimate total savings at this moment.

BISD employees have expressed their understanding of the current state of Texas school financing for public schools. The current financial predicament of public schools in Texas can partly be attributed to state lawmakers who have halted any increase in the basic allotment per student since 2019. This increase for public funding has been blocked until the approval of private school vouchers—a budget policy that still remains under debate.
