Updates on New Construction and Medical Providers: Baylor Scott & White Health’s College Station Region

New Developments in Baylor Scott & White Health’s College Station Region

Baylor Scott & White Health (BS&W) administrators have provided updates on new construction and incoming medical providers in the College Station region. Jason Jennings, the region president, said that construction has started on the expansion of the emergency room (ER) in the College Station hospital.

This new project will see the addition of 11 new exam rooms, two trauma bays, and a private treatment room. The first phase of the medical building, fondly referred to as “The Plaza,” is on track and expected to start accepting patients beginning 2025.

The Plaza: A New Medical Office Building

The Plaza will be a versatile facility featuring clinic rooms, a sleep center, therapy services, and a laboratory. With a generous provision for future growth, the building will also house a day surgery center. The construction process is ongoing, with the first phase expected to be completed soon.

Strategic Employment in the Healthcare Sector

The increase in medical providers marks significant growth for the BS&W workforce. The region’s chief medical officer, Dr. Seth Sullivan, reported a net increase of 28 new medical providers in the current year.

This includes a team from the Texas Brain & Spine Institute (TBSI) who joined the BS&W family in February. The TBSI, formed in 2005, delivers neurosurgical solutions by integrating patient care, education, and research.

Jennings adds, with the new providers and support staff, Baylor Scott & White’s employment in the College Station region now stands at over 2,200.

Expectations for the Future

The continued growth, indicated by the new construction and influx of medical providers, is promising for the College Station region. The expansion of the ER and the completion of The Plaza will increase the healthcare capacity, ensuring better medical services for the local population. The surge in employment numbers also has positive implications for the region’s economy.

The integration of TBSI into the BS&W family paves the way for enhanced neurosurgical solutions in the region. Baylor Scott & White’s continued adoption of inclusive growth strategies is bound to have far-reaching impacts – from healthcare provision and employment to education and research.

College Station residents can look forward to a steadfast growth of their medical resources and more comprehensive healthcare services from Baylor Scott & White Health.
