Tick-Tock: Registration Deadline Nears for Rec Sports Outdoor Adventure Trips
Exciting Outdoor Opportunities on the Horizon
College Station, TX – The registration deadline is fast approaching for two incredible outdoors-focused trips offered by Texas A&M’s Student Recreation Department. As part of the Outdoor Adventures series, students and community members of Bryan-College Station have the opportunity to enjoy exhilarating activities in two different outdoor settings before the spring semester comes to a halt. Interested adventurers have until April 16 to register for these trips via the Rec Sports website.
The first journey scheduled is “Sunset Stand Up Paddleboard,” taking place on April 18 from 6-9:30 p.m. at Lake Bryan. Welcoming beginners, the student trip leaders provide all the necessary training, equipment, and transportation for participants to delight in an evening packed with tranquil paddleboard experiences. The fees for the adventure are $21 for A&M students and $25 for the local community, including all amenities.
Tailored for both seasoned and novice outdoor enthusiasts, Outdoor Adventures offers weekend and extended trips throughout Texas and beyond. Student trip leaders, rigorously trained by Outdoor Rec, walk participants through every step of an adventure, from packing essentials to acquiring the required skills to safely enjoy a trip.

The second adventure is “Explore Huntsville State Park” on April 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This hybrid excursion enables adventure lovers to traverse Huntsville State Park by foot and by boat. The journey includes hiking through the state park and paddleboarding on Lake Raven, wrapped up in a single day of adventure. The trip costs $66 for students and $80 for the general public, including food and transportation.
Todd Grier, program director for Outdoor Rec, believes that these outdoor trips can be a refreshing break from an otherwise busy life. He encourages students to participate, network with like-minded people and cultivate an appreciation for their surroundings. Contrary to popular beliefs, Grier emphasizes that lavish equipment or advanced skills aren’t prerequisites for these trips — an enthusiastic attitude and an open mind are all that’s required.
