Police in College Station Take a Firm Stand Against Local Crime
In the bustling city of College Station, local law enforcement is ramping up their efforts to tackle criminal activity following a series of recent arrests that have made headlines. This weekend was particularly eventful, with numerous incidents highlighting the challenges the community faces in maintaining safety.
A Record-Breaking Arrest
First up is the arrest of Trey Deshaun Burleson, a 30-year-old man who has found himself on the wrong side of the law for the twelfth time in just eleven years. On Sunday afternoon, police rushed to a disturbance on Pecan Knoll St. just before 5 p.m. after receiving a call from a woman who claimed her son had threatened her with a knife during a heated argument.
The mother expressed her fears, pointing out Burleson’s troubling history of previous stabbings. As a result, he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon along with several outstanding warrants. This latest incident adds to his lengthy record, raising concerns about repeat offenders in the community.
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Not Without Consequences!
In another incident, 21-year-old Preston Gurrola was arrested while trying to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Northgate. Gurrola, who was clearly having a bit too much fun, attempted to intervene aggressively during another person’s arrest for public intoxication. His antics caught the attention of law enforcement, and a search of his waistband revealed a handgun. This discovery led to additional charges for unlawful carry of a weapon. Gurrola managed to make a quick exit from jail after posting a bond totaling $5,300.
Teenage Trouble: A Vehicle Break-In Attempt
The mischief didn’t stop there, as two teenagers, Teddy Walker (17) and Charles Harrell (18), were apprehended for attempting to break into parked vehicles. Police caught them in the act, as they were observed trying to enter 16 vehicles and were successful with at least one. Facing serious charges, both teenagers are now looking at three counts of burglary of a vehicle and are being held on hefty $55,000 bonds.
Vape Shop Burglary Gone Wrong
Early Sunday morning saw another twist when two men, Jomante Bailey (26) and Jamarius Anderson (38), decided to break into TooTer’s Vape Shop. They thought it would be a good idea to smash the front door with a rock to gain entry. Well, it didn’t take long for the police to respond with a rigorous search that included K9 units and drones. The pair was eventually found at The Grand Apartments, with Bailey charged with burglary of a building and Anderson slapped with a charge for making a false report to a police officer. Their bonds were set at $20,000 and $2,000, respectively.
A Narcotics Investigation Unfolds
Lastly, a long-running narcotics investigation led to the arrest of five suspects connected to a drug ring involving cocaine and counterfeit Adderall pills. Daegin Hamilton (21), Kate-Lynn Lindeman (20), Alexander Welch (27), Zakary Webb (19), and Cayden Carroll (23) were all charged with a variety of drug-related offenses. Their bonds vary from $12,000 to $45,000. One participant, Cooper Currie (28), remains at large, with a warrant issued for his arrest.
It’s clear that College Station is facing a spike in local crime, but with police cracking down hard, residents can hopefully breathe a little easier knowing that law enforcement is taking serious measures to keep the community safe. Stay tuned as the story develops, and remain vigilant!
