Updated Ticket Pull Guidelines in Effect for 2024 Football Season
The 2024 football season at Texas A&M University will see significant changes in ticket pull guidelines, a long-standing tradition at the institution.
Campout Tradition Continues with Modifications
Starting Sep. 1, 2024, the system will implement new rules to govern the practice of camping out for ticket pulls. One major change to note is that tents for campouts will not be allowed to set up until 6 a.m. the Sunday prior to ticket pull – a move designed to enhance safety measures like keeping fire lanes clear and minimizing tent hazards.
“We want to keep the tradition,” Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Vicki Dobiyanski, said. “We need our Ags to help and to follow these rules so we can do it safely. We don’t want any issue or accident to lead to the halt of this tradition.”
Key Tent Line Guidelines:
- Campouts can begin at 6 a.m. the Sunday before ticket pull.
- The fire lane in front of Kyle Field cannot be blocked.
- All materials must be flame retardant and store-bought.
- Tents can be up to 10 feet by 10 feet but must be free-standing (i.e., not tethered to any structures).
Coordinating with Student Organizations
Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Affairs are seeking two organizations per game to manage the tent line. Organizations that sign up would send up to 10 members to be present at the start time and check in on the campout periodically. These 10 members would then be first in line for ticket pull.
SGA’s Executive VP of Student Engagement, Kathleen Parks, mentioned that involving student groups in maintaining this tradition is an exciting move. “It’s really special that student organizations – playing such a huge role in student life at A&M – get to help maintain that tradition,” Parks said.
Updates for Key Games of the Season
Discussions have taken place over the summer among students and administrators regarding the future of the campout tradition. The central topic was how to continue with minimal alteration and plan for key games like the Texas game in November, which will likely have its own set of rules announced closer to the date.
“The students and administrators have been fighting to keep the tradition,” Dobiyanski added. SGA, the first organization that has signed up to manage the tent line, is all set to ensure the smooth running of campouts.
